Peace

/

How do you find your peace when the world around you seems to be falling apart?  It’s not easy but if you search within your soul you will find what you are looking for.

After the initial shock of it all and all of the upsetting news that seems to generate more fear in us than information, I came to realize that none of this information is helpful to me in terms of my mental health.  Of course we need to be aware of all of the basics; Social Distancing, washing hands, etc., but we also need to find the time to reflect on our purpose through this time.

Here are some of the ways that I am coping with the current events we all face:

  1. Deep breathing throughout the day.  This helps me to focus on the now and calm my nerves and mind when I’m overthinking.
  2. Journaling my thoughts in the morning and reading inspirational books will help place positive thoughts into our minds and hearts.
  3. Self Care; Even though I may not be leaving my home for extended periods of time, I still need to get dressed, do my hair and even use that special amazing scented soap I’ve been leaving for a special occasion!  Well that special occasion is now!
  4. Make a list of all the things you may have been wanting to do and tackle the ones you can do from home!  This will help to give you a sense of accomplishment and make the time go faster if you’re having trouble being homebound.  I reorganized my closet, cupboards and other areas of my place. It makes me feel refreshed and ready to start my day!
  5. Eat healthy!  This is the time to experiment with old and new recipes.  I keep it as simple as possible but as pretty as I can on my plate!  For example, my daughter made a few crepes and I added powdered sugar and that last strawberry that was about to go bad!  She was jealous! I snapped a few quick photos and happily enjoyed my breakfast! And I definitely include veggies whether it be through juicing or fresh.
  6. I am also diligent to take my vitamins and supplements to make sure my body has what it needs.
  7. Exercise.  Right now I’m not doing anything crazy but yoga stretching is what my body gravitates to at the moment.
  8. Sleep is very important. Although I’m a natural “night owl” I have been letting my body tell me when I need to go to bed and wake up.

I hope my tips will give you some guidance if you haven’t had a routine until now.  Most importantly, I hope that you all continue to stay safe, healthy, and at PEACE in these days ahead!  Stay positive in your thoughts and continue to stay hopeful!
